Keeping It Brief

If I had more time, I would have written a shorter blog post. Actually, that’s what I’m going to do. Right now.

This is my participation in the Let’s Be Brief writing contest at Middle Zone Musings. I love these group projects, and I figured the legal blogosphere should be represented. Here are my stories, in six words or less (that’s the object of the contest).

1. Objection, hearsay! Who said? He did.
2. May it please the court? NO!!
3. Lawyer driving; hit bumper for lawsuit.
4. Ambulance chaser fell, bought running …

I’m Hosting Blawg Review!

Thanks to the generosity of the Editor at Blawg Review, I’ll be hosting next week’s edition. It goes live on Monday, January 22nd.

If you’re not familiar with Blawg Review, it’s the premier carnival of law bloggers. It’s Law Review on a blog. But unlike your typical journal, Blawg Review covers things that people actually care about.

The Legal Andrew edition of Blawg Review will highlight legal productivity. I’d love to include one of your posts. To be considered, check out the Submission Guidelines. That page also includes how to …

Don’t Go to the Doctor; Just Search Blogs

That’s what a good friend of mine said. Honestly, it struck me like a ton of bricks. I’m definitely a fan of blogs and I love the awesome information they convey, but I also value a doctor’s visit now and then. Here’s the story:

Apparently this friend had some kind-of sore and swelling on her lips. The doctors couldn’t figure it out for the life of them. She finally googled her symptoms. She found a blogger who went through the same thing and explained the cause. It turns out that mango skin contains a …

My Favorite WordPress Plugins

The other day I wrote a post that prompted a great comment from Law Student. One thing he wondered was what WordPress plugins I use here at Legal Andrew.

So many choices!

One thing I love about WordPress is the endless opportunities for customization. There are thousands of themes and plugins you can install. This makes it so even the least tech-able person can have a WordPress blog that looks & performs exactly the way he wants it.

However, part of the difficulty with …

The Networking Carnival – Fourth Edition – Help for Newbies

Are you ready for some whirly fun at the carnival? The response for this month’s networking carnival was great! Here’s what Thom posted, that I asked people to respond to:

A new year has begun. Instead of doing the typical New Year’s resolution, let’s focus on something a bit different. Let’s help out the people who are new to networking. Provide your best tip to help networking newbies start the year right.

So without further ado, here comes the …

Month in Review – December

Hello to all of you wonderful readers. If you are new to Legal Andrew, I’m glad you found your way here. If you’re a regular, I’m glad you keep coming back. I value all of your time and participation.

Popular posts

1. The most popular post for December is You Gotta Love a Free Espresso Machine. It was #1 on Google for “free espresso,” but now it’s down to #3. Sadly, traffic to the post is down a bit too.

2. Second place goes to …

About Me – My Five Favorite Movies

You may have seen these “memes” going around. Other people call it “blog tag.” Basically, you answer a question and tag several other bloggers to answer it as well. Most of them are of a personal nature. It helps build community, reveals details about bloggers, and also shares some link love.

From now on, when I participate in one of these, I’ll start the title with “About Me.” You can quickly see that it’s personal. If you’re not interested, you can easily skip the post altogether. But, if you’d like to know more about …

Lawyers Appreciate Clients Who Foster Productivity

Anastasia passed me the baton for the 10-day “lawyers appreciate” countdown. I love group projects, so here’s my post.

Of course lawyers appreciate their clients. After all, they are the ones who pay the bill. More importantly, lawyers (hopefully) exist to serve their clients.

However, in keeping with the theme here, I wanted to point out how clients can be appreciated even more by lawyers: foster productivity.

Understand time demands

It’s been said before, and I’ll say it again: Your matter is most important to you, but …

Do you remember every address you’ve lived at in the past ten years? Probably not.

When it’s time to fill out your character and fitness questionnaire for the bar, you’ll need this information. Where are you going to get it?

Be Productive This Winter Break – Fill Out Your Bar Exam Applications

Yep, final exams are over. Christmas is almost here. Law school is out for weeks! It’s time to think about another exam!

Wait. Yeah, that’s what I said. Have you filled out your bar exam paperwork yet?

The bar exam application and character & fitness questionnaire are … comprehensive. The Bar Examiners dig into every corner of your life to try to root out any problem that might prevent you from being a good lawyer.

Gather your documentation

The first reason to start working on this paperwork is that you’ll need lots of different documents to complete it …
