I write a lot about books. Buying and selling. There are lots of posts here on the subject: maximizing your cash, the basic process, getting the best price, buying cheap books, buying more cheap books.

Today I’m taking a detour to highlight a single online book site: Sell Back Your Book. I have personally used them, and it’s definitely a good service. In fact, we just sold a box of books to this book buyback site. We got a $79 check in return. Sweet!

Sell Back Your Book is a typical website where you can sell books online. The process is pretty straightforward. After you’ve done it once, you’ll have it down pat.

  1. Enter your book ISBN’s into the big textbox on their homepage.
  2. When you want to sell a book to the site, add it to your cart.
  3. Print your paid shipping label (paid for orders over $10).
  4. Stick the books in a box and mail them off.
  5. Collect your check.

Prices do vary with the online book buyback sites. But I’ve found the prices at Sell Back Your Book to be pretty competitive. Like I mentioned, we just sold $79 worth of books to them, and it was only one medium-sized box.

Also, some book selling sites take a while to pay. In fact, we shipped another boxes of books at the exact same time to another buyback site. We’re still waiting on their check. It will surely come, but it wasn’t as speedy as Sell Back Your Book.

If you’re looking to sell back books, give these guys a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

    I only tried one book, but was offered about 1/10 what I could get selling on half.com. But this option does look like less hassle, if that is what you value.

    @Adam – Convenience is definitely a factor here. You could probably get more money by selling books individually somewhere like Amazon. But sites like Sell Back Your Book have made it so easy, especially when you have lots of books to sell.
