Protect and Repair Your Credit

Sponsored Post

Your biggest single asset is your credit. If you destroy it, you need to repair it. And you can’t let other people destroy it. Protect your credit. Fortunately, there are lots of great resources on credit repair.

A great way to repair your credit is to resolve past matters with creditors. You can contact them and offer to settle the disputed amounts. Creditors want to recover their money, so even if you offer a little bit, they might be willing to remove the dispute from your credit report.

But if you properly protect your credit from the beginning, you shouldn’t need to repair it. Always pay your bills on time. This is one of the most important steps to having good credit. Even if you can’t pay the full bill, at least pay something.

Another important credit protection step is to monitor your accounts and statements. Reconcile your accounts monthly, and make sure there are no unauthorized charges or withdrawals. If something fishy does show up, contact your bank immediately.

These steps are always important to remember. Once you repair your credit, you have to keep it in good shape. Repairing it will do no good, if you destroy it again within a year or two. Be sure to repair it and then keep it clean.

Bad credit can really hurt you. My friend’s credit score is even below 600. They can’t really get a finance for cars or loans, and often have to ask people to co-sign for them. When you are out of school, banks look for your credit score and not your report card!!
