I definitely see your point about comments increasing page load times. The message board idea is one solution. Steve Pavlina has gone that route. Another method is to use paged comments. Then only the first 20-25 comments load with the original post, the rest are put onto page 2,3,etc.

I’m going to keep my eye on the poll and see what the overall vote is. We’ll see if I end up making a change.

I use IntegraMod for dealing with lengthy comment discussions. My blog isn’t well known right now, so I don’t have to worry about a lot of comments, but if it takes off, I’ve set up a place where discussions can be managed better, and a certain blog consultant (I hope) will help me figure out how to link my blog posts to the related discussion site. *grin*

Whatever solution you find for your blog, you know I’m going to want it on my blog too! I use your blog features to keep up to date for my own. I also like whatever you’re using to send blog posts through our email, and I like the survey poll you just embedded. I’ll add them to the blog to do list.

Trippy! That’s a great assessment. The purple shades on my example site do trip me out a bit. I tried to find a better example, but I had no luck.

I see your point about adjusting to the layout, especially when 99% of blogs just do the standard method.
