Hi Paul,

I'm glad to see someone else has used this AdSense tactic. I don't know that I've been using it long enough to see a real earnings increase, but it was easy to implement. Thus, I'll definitely keep using it.

I'm glad changing colors has helped your earnings. I'll put a little thought into a plugin, and see what I can come up with. I'll definitely post the results here on the blog.

Take care,
Andrew

I think it's a great idea. I regularly change the ad colors on my blogs and noticed an increase in revenue. A plugin would make my job easier :)

The value of AdSense depends upon the blog. Some people see them in a bit of negative light, but I don't think everyone does. As you said, most people display them. How then can it really "cheapen" your blog, if they're so common place? The key is to integrate them into the site and make sure your content is front-and-center.

Earnings through advertising vary greatly. Some people make only a few cents per day with AdSense, while others make hundreds of dollars per day. I generally get about $40-50/month. Here's more on my blog earnings.

I'll pay you up to half my kingdom to help me with my template. That would be half of a 1988 Buick LaSabre, which breaks down, and half of an 11 year old dog. That's all that's left after litigation expenses and blackballing took place. Well, let's skip half my dog. I can't believe I'm asking this, but are Google ads worth it, or do people think it cheapens your blog since everyone has Google ads in their sites now a days?

Thanks for your thoughts on ads. I'm definitely with you on animated ads: they stink. I don't think my site displays them.

As for a plugin, I'm not sure it would be generic for any type of ads. I was specifically thinking of a plugin for AdSense, to help people randomly change colors and/or ad size.

For a sponsorship space like you're talking, you don't really need a plugin. You can just edit the template and the stick the sponsor's ad image in there. Look in my sidebar under "premium sponsor" for an example. I can help you with editing your template to achieve this, if you want.

Take care,

I would be interested in your WordPress plugin if you develop it. I'm not a fan of Google ads though. What I want is to sell sponsorship in my blawg and law discussion forum, but not through Google. More like buying ad space in a newspaper or magazine. I use WordPress but I'm not running ads in it yet. It's a feature I want once I figure out how to get my blawg set up properly. I'm sorry to say, I don't click on Google AdSense on anyone's page. However, I will click on a nice (NOT ANIMATED) ad that is not from the "famous" ad placement companies. I despise animated ads on reading material. They are annoying, distracting, and I will bail out of a blog or other type of Web site if I can't read the material without moving objects on the page.
